Promoting Sporting Breeds Across Alaska
About the Alaska Sporting Dog Association
The Alaska Sporting Dog Association (ASDA) is an AKC-approved Limited Breed Club dedicated to promoting and preserving the AKC Sporting Group throughout Alaska.
Our members include breeders, exhibitors, trainers, hunters, and Sporting dog enthusiasts who are passionate about structure, temperament, performance, and responsible ownership. From conformation to field work, obedience to agility, we celebrate the versatility that defines Sporting breeds.

Who We Are
ASDA was formed by Alaskans who recognized the need for stronger representation of Sporting breeds within our state. With long travel distances and fewer specialty opportunities than in the lower 48, building community and momentum requires dedication.
Our club provides that foundation.
We bring together exhibitors and enthusiasts from across Alaska to support one another, host meaningful events, and promote the Sporting Group with integrity and enthusiasm.
What We Do
-
Host AKC Limited Sporting Group Specialty shows
-
Support junior handlers and new exhibitors
-
Promote education and responsible breeding practices
-
Encourage participation in conformation and performance events
-
Foster a welcoming Sporting dog community across Alaska
-
ASDA is also expanding opportunities for Sporting dogs to participate in additional AKC programs, including AKC Fetch events, and we are actively exploring future hunt tests, educational seminars, and performance-based programming to further support breed purpose and engagement.
Why It Matters in Alaska
Alaska presents a unique environment for dog enthusiasts. Travel is extensive. Access to breed specialties can be limited. Opportunities to showcase Sporting dogs require initiative and collaboration.
ASDA exists to ensure that Sporting breeds have opportunity, visibility, and a supportive network within our state.
We are proud to represent the Sporting Group in Alaska and to support exhibitors from Anchorage, Palmer, the Mat-Su Valley, the Kenai Peninsula, Fairbanks, and beyond.

Our Mission
The mission of the Alaska Sporting Dog Association is to promote the AKC Sporting Group and to encourage responsible ownership, sound structure, and preservation of breed purpose through education, events, and community involvement.
